  • Blitz Inc Presents Goal Setting Pt 1

It shouldn't be any secret anymore, but in order to achieve outstanding results and performance, you must have your goals set high. To quote Kevin from The Office, "I want you to dream...as big as you can. Then.....DOUBLE IT!" So much for a motivational speech, but it's meaning holds true. Our thoughts influence our beliefs, and vice versa. Our thoughts influence our actions. Our actions dictate our outcome. Our outcome is our reality. So to shorten everything up, Our thoughts become our reality.

There is so much information about thoughts becoming reality that there are 81,100,000 results on Google. It is possible to think about something so much that it actually comes to fruition. However, most of us will never be able to perform this "miracle." Many of us are too lazy to even write down what we want out of life, let alone think about what we REALLY want out of life. So I guess it all comes down to actually figuring that out first. Endless daydreaming about what would be nice won't help you. Figure out want you want. Then, decide if you are willing to go out and get it. Just asking ourselves this question puts a lot of "what we want" out of the picture. We just aren't willing to do the work. According to our beliefs, it just may be too tough. There may be too many obstacles.

A good thing to do if you have big goals but don't believe you can achieve them, is to find out if anyone has done something similar. The power of confidence absolutely helps in achieving our goals and dreams. Knowing that other people have had similar goals, and maybe came from less of an opportunity, helps to solidify the goal in your head.

"If other people have done this, maybe I could too."

Once you figure out what you really want out of life, or your job, or your relationships, it's important that you write it all down. Although the Harvard / Yale study on goals and achievement apparently never happened, you can't deny that writing down your goals will help you. There is another study, not from Harvard or Yale that helps to solidify this idea at http://sidsavara.com/personal-productivity/fact-or-fiction-the-truth-about-the-harvard-written-goal-study with the following link: Gail Matthews Written Goal Study Dominican University.

Whatever goals you end up coming up with, you'll ultimately decide if they are worth the effort. The bigger the goals, the bigger the challenges.

So many people tell me that what I want to do is too hard or too big of an investment in my time. But for me, what I'm doing and what I'm going to do are worth it. I'm aware of some of the obstacles. I am also aware that I am unaware of most of the obstacles. The secret is to deal with each obstacle as they come, and not worry too much about the next possible challenge.

Obstacles are just simply something that stands in your way to achieving what you want. Any perceived failure is ultimately just an obstacle. No matter what you are doing or plan to do, I'm sure that you have faced challenges or know that you will face them. Without failures or challenges, everyone would have already achieved their highest potential. Most people give up. Most people don't read past the first chapter of a book! They bought the book for a reason. They paid money for it. However, it may seem "too boring" "too dry" "hard to read" etc. So people quit.

The same goals for anything you do. If you think it's "too hard," you'll quit. But if you know that it will be hard, and you are willing to go the distance, you'll find out what you're truly made of.
